It’s summer — but that doesn’t mean the days are lazy. Information for Henrico County Public Schools families when temperatures heat up:
HCPS summer hours
From June 6-Aug. 1, school offices and HCPS central offices are closed Fridays. Twelve-month staff members work four 10-hour days, from Monday through Thursday. Please call your school before visiting, as schedules may vary.
FACE Summer Tour
The HCPS Division of Family and Community Engagement is hitting the road once again this summer to bring community fun and free resources to neighborhoods and locations across Henrico County. Students and families are invited to join in the festivities and learn about some of the services available to families during the summer as we prepare for the 2025-26 school year. Summer Help Desk hours:
Need technology help this summer? The HCPS Help Desk will be available at two sites, which will offer repairs and support, and will have iPads, Chromebooks and laptops available for quick replacements.
Sites: Glen Allen High School and Highland Springs High School
Dates: June 9-July 17
Hours: Monday-Thursday from 1-4:45 p.m.
After July 21, students and staff members in summer programs should seek initial support at their home schools. Technology support technicians will be on-site at HCPS schools to help.
HCPS Summer Academy
HCPS Summer Academy is a unique program that gives elementary, middle and high school students important opportunities for enrichment, credit-recovery, remediation and career exploration.

From summer reading, enrichment and STEAM challenges to resources you can explore using Clever, check out these engaging ways to help your HCPS student continue learning during Summer Break.
Family fun around Henrico County
Henrico County Public Library: Sign up for the HCPL summer reading program and beat the “summer slide.” Your local public library also offers plenty of classes and activities, from tie-dye to performances and author visits.
Henrico County Recreation and Parks activities: You won't believe the variety of programs and classes Henrico County Recreation and Parks is offering this summer.
Henrico County summer camps: Henrico offers free "Let's Grow, Henrico!" summer camps for county residents.
Employment

Back-to-School
School starts Aug. 18 and the HCPS Back-to-School page is the place to get ready for an amazing year.

Back-to-School Kickoff: The excitement of the 2025-26 school year starts July 31 at the annual HCPS Back-to-School Kickoff at the Henrico Sports & Events Center! Come to the divisionwide event from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. for tons of free family fun:
