YAY JONATHAN BRUSH! Jonathan Brush, an instructional assistant at Dumbarton Elementary School, is today's Yay of the Day honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently at Dumbarton!

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Sara Harpster said,

"He comes to school every day with a positive attitude, a smile on his face and a willingness to do whatever is needed without complaint. He provides recess coverage throughout the day, allowing teachers valuable additional planning time. During recess, he is fully engaged with students, teaching them new games while modeling sportsmanship, teamwork and positive social skills. Whether it's hot, cold or anything in between, Mr. Brush is always outside, ready to make recess an enjoyable and meaningful outlet that our students so desperately need. His dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to our school community make him truly deserving of this recognition.

"One of the many ways Mr. Brush has made a difference is through the relationships he builds with students during recess. He has taught our students countless new games and consistently goes out of his way to engage every child. I have noticed him making a special effort to include students who might otherwise spend recess alone. His encouragement and involvement help these students feel valued, connected and part of the group. Over time, I have seen his efforts make a significant difference in students' confidence, social skills and willingness to interact with their peers. The positive impact he has on our students extends far beyond the playground and contributes to a more inclusive and supportive school community."

Thank you for all you do, Jonathan, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
