YAY SEAN COX! Sean Cox, a school security officer at Sandston Elementary School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently.
YAYWORTHY:
Nominator Lila Hiltz said,
"He is not just our school security officer, but our student 'support' officer. He truly sees every student and connects with them. If a student has a behavior challenge or needs a break, he is right there willing to listen and have talks about better choices. He spends his lunch with students in the cafeteria, and greets everyone with fist bumps. He is willing to help out however he can support kids.
"A specific example of a time he made a positive impact is when a student was having a difficult day and wasn't completing any work. He took him for a walk to calm down, then got the assignment and worked with him to get it completed. While working, he listened to the student share what made him frustrated and what challenges he was having in completing the assignment."
Thank you for all you do, Sean Cox, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
