Sharita Avery with Highland Springs High School

YAY SHARITA AVERY! Sharita Avery, a school counselor at Highland Springs High School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Shannon Odendahl said,

"She is always willing to stop what she's doing to help students and staff. She steps up in every way needed or asked. She never complains or has a poor attitude about anything, ever. She is calm, friendly, kind, helpful, thoughtful and all around a wonderful coworker. It is a blessing to work with such a fabulous counselor!

"Whenever we are short on counselors due to illness, emergencies, field trips or whatever the reason, she is always someone who can be counted on to step up and help with students that are not on her case load. For example, a new student was starting and their counselor was unavailable due to being in an IEP meeting. Sharita helped get the new student set up so they could get to class and get their day started instead of making the student wait till their counselor's meeting was over."

Thank you for all you do, Sharita Avery, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
