Karen Brincks with Kaechele Elementary School

YAY KAREN BRINCKS! Karen Brincks, a fourth grade teacher at Kaechele Elementary, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Lori Gebhard said,

"Her highest priority as a teacher is to serve the needs of her students and team. She embraces changes and challenges and adapts her teaching and instructional methods with the ever changing educational and technological system that push most teachers over the edge. She looks for ways to challenge her students and build their confidence. Not only that, she is constantly taking courses and classes to better herself and share new information and best practices with students as well as colleagues. She has taken endless PD’s through Henrico, completed 2 Specializations and continues to further her education to support her belief that HCPS is the best place to teach and learn! Her students know she believes in them through her positive energy and support. It’s an energy and safe feeling where kids aren’t afraid to take risks, because they know she has their back.

"When technology is down, or a substitute needs support with plans or a student is having a meltdown or rough day, she is consistently willing to sacrifice her time to help support her colleagues when needed, whether it’s with a technological glitch (which occurs daily) or with instructional design and ideas that help reach all students. Very rarely if ever can you find a person who can turn problems into solutions with such ease and calmness. She is a go-to for those closest to her, and the person recommended to all for help with any issue that comes up. You know Karen will go out of her way to help, to calm and to support. No matter what type of day she is having, she is always willing to help and to go the extra mile."

Thank you for all you do, Karen Brincks, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
