On April 21, Virginia will hold a recently announced special election requiring the use of several dozen Henrico Schools sites as polling places. In keeping with existing division safety protocols for elections, schools will be closed for students and staff on April 21. Twelve-month employees will report to work as usual.
Unlike times of inclement weather, the Virginia Code does not recognize remote learning to offset instructional time lost due to election day closures. To recapture a portion of this time, HCPS will convert the planned early dismissal day on Thursday, March 19, to a full day of learning. An updated calendar is available on the school division website.
In the unlikely event of additional snow days or other emergency closures this school year, the division will leverage remote learning to make up for lost instructional time.
