YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Meghan Guion said,

"It is with immense pleasure and without reservation that I recommend Destinee Jones for a YAY of the day! I have had the privilege of working closely with Destinee in her role as an Instructional Aide at VREC. During this time, I have consistently been impressed by her dedication, empathy and remarkable aptitude for supporting students with autism spectrum disorder. Destinee, a proud graduate of Henrico, has quickly become an invaluable member of our team. Despite her young age of 19, she demonstrates maturity and professionalism far beyond her years.

"What truly sets Destinee apart is her innate ability to connect with students on the autism spectrum. She approaches each child with patience, understanding, and a genuine desire to help them succeed. I have observed her creatively adapting a lesson to meet a student's unique learning style. She possesses a keen observational eye, allowing her to anticipate student needs and adjust her support proactively. Furthermore, Destinee is highly responsible, reliable, and takes initiative. She is always punctual, eager to learn new strategies, and meticulous in following specific protocols and data collection requirements. She collaborates effectively with classroom teachers, therapists, and other support staff, readily communicating observations and contributing to team discussions. Her willingness to seek feedback and continuously improve her practice is truly commendable."

Thank you for all you do, Destinee Jones, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
