Sherina Travis with John Rolfe Middle School

YAY SHERINA TRAVIS! Sherina Travis, a teacher fellow at John Rolfe Middle School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Rolfe.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Nicole Armstrong said,

"She has gone above and beyond to support our new teachers and to serve as one of our instructional leaders in the building.

"As the New Teacher Mentor Coordinator, she implemented a concept called "From One Jag to Another," where new teachers can spotlight something new that they have learned and tried that is working well in their classroom. At our first meeting, one of our new math teachers was able to spotlight a practice from her classroom. Dr. Travis created a certificate to shout her out along with a special prize. It was a small gesture but is great for building capacity and morale for teachers in the building. This is just one example, but Dr. Travis is often helping to build positive morale around the building with encouraging words and just being able to assist whenever needed. Her expertise is valuable and her passion for helping to build up teachers so that they can ultimately be better for our students is much appreciated!"

Thank you for all you do, Sherina Travis, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
