Henrico County Public Schools invites families, alumni and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the new Campus of Virginia Randolph on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 4-6 p.m. at 2204 Mountain Road. The community celebration will include guided tours highlighting how this historic campus continues to inspire learning and opportunity for today’s students.
More than a school, the Campus of Virginia Randolph reflects a bold vision that began over a century ago. As a young teacher in 1892, Virginia Randolph opened a one-room school for Black children. She combined strong academics with practical, hands-on learning and worked alongside families to create spaces where students felt supported and empowered.
The new Campus of Virginia Randolph features state-of-the-art facilities, along with a revitalization and renovation of the school building that has honored Virginia Randolph’s historic legacy as an educator. The campus is now the home to the following programs and spaces:
The Academy at Virginia Randolph (AVR)
The Virginia Randolph Education Center (VREC)
The Advanced Career Education (ACE) Center at Virginia Randolph
HCPS’ Elementary Intervention Program
A community hub for the HCPS Division of Family and Community Engagement
Join Henrico Schools as we honor the extraordinary legacy of an educational pioneer and celebrate a campus that continues to open doors for students.
