YAY DIAMONE VINCENT! Diamone Vincent, a fourth grade teacher at Laburnum Elementary School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Laburnum.
YAYWORTHY:
Her nominator said,
"She goes above and beyond for her students on a daily basis, creating a classroom food pantry that she and her family stock with their own money. She celebrates with families outside of the classroom and held daily morning meetings with affirmations all last year with the entire fourth grade team she leads! She is innovative, resourceful and inspiring!
"Miss Vincent hosted a Hispanic heritage celebration for her students where she and the students of Hispanic descent dressed up, presented artifacts that were important to them from their country and brought their favorite packaged Mexican snacks! They created crafts which she surprised them with and decorated the class, transforming it into a Mexican celebration while they were away at resource class. At recess, they sang Mexican karaoke songs as a class, experienced new snacks and learned about different artifacts and games from Mexico. Her biggest takeaway from the day after all the work was a student who thanked her for being the first teacher to ever celebrate and notice their differences and love for their culture. This is just one way Miss V makes sure to SEE each and every one of her babies! And she calls them HER BABIES! She goes above and beyond for them, treating each one just as her own. It’s an admirable and inspiring experience to watch the Miss V effect!"
Thank you for all you do, Diamone Vincent, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
