YAY BILLY DEW! Billy Dew, a school security officer at Glen Allen Elementary School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently at Glen Allen.

"We recall Mrs. Pruden introducing Mr. Dew as the school's new security officer a few years ago, and how reassuring we thought it was to have a retired firefighter/EMT in the building. We never imagined we would experience firsthand just how vital that would be. During a recent lunch, our son began to choke and couldn’t breathe. Without hesitation, Mr. Dew performed the Heimlich maneuver and quite literally saved his life. Thanks to Mr. Dew’s quick thinking and calm response, he quickly recovered. We can’t express how grateful our family is for his presence, training, and courage in that terrifying moment.
"Knowing that someone like Mr. Dew is part of the school community is reassuring. He is truly a hero, and we will forever be thankful for what he did that day. His actions deserve to be recognized and celebrated."
