Yay of the Day

YAY RIA MULLIS! Ria Mullis, an assistant principal at Mills E. Godwin High School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Godwin.

YAYWORTHY:

Her nominator said,

"Ria’s dedication to our daughter stands out as a powerful example of enduring, deeply personal commitment. She worked hand-in-hand, side-by-side with us, maintaining constant communication through emails, phone calls, and texts — she was there far beyond her contracted hours, pouring her heart into the effort to ensure a safety net was always in place. She never gave up on a student who was suffering, had lost her true self, and was spiraling academically and socially. Ria Mullis provided tireless advocacy beyond her contract hours and showed my daughter how to find her way back by modeling unwavering commitment and belief in her true self."

"When my daughter, who had previously been resistant to Ria, returned to school this year, and Ria’s first words to her were: 'Oh, there you are! That's the beautiful girl we have missed. It's really you again!' This instant, loving affirmation completely transcended their previous difficult dynamic and anchored our daughter’s successful, supported transition into her senior year. Ria and the rest of the Godwin team continue to rally alongside our daughter, navigating her through the year with a support system built on true love and belief in her. Thank you, Ria, for your tireless work and your ultimate refusal to give up on a student who needed you most."

Thank you for all you do, Ria Mullis, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
