YAY EMILY DICKERSON! Emily Dickerson, a payroll coordinator with Human Resources, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Central Office.

Nominator Marge Cipolla said,
"Emily Dickerson exhibits, every day, what it means to be a 'team player.' Emily went out of her way to help me and assist one of our faculty members during the hectic start of our school year at Godwin. Our faculty and staff do experience some added stress when they are working conscientiously to serve a student body of 1,700 students, along with their families. A sidebar for them is to manage taking care of their HR benefits and overlook their paystubs.
"Earlier this week, one of our faculty members became frustrated with an Employee Direct Access password reset issue that he could not rectify. After an email exchange between the faculty member and I, Emily worked behind the scenes to assist me, even though her department was not responsible for handling this specific procedure. This is such a common issue that people experience, and now, with her diligence, we no longer have to bother Human Resources, Technology or Payroll for answers. We now have a tutorial, and 170 faculty & staff have the answers.
"This is not the first time Emily has assisted me. If I have any issues with processing payroll, at all, I can pick up the telephone and call her, and she will give me the re-assurance, answers, and support that I need. I think what is so important to me after working for Henrico County Public Schools for 17 years is that we do not always have all of the answers that people think we should. Quite honestly, no one has all of the answers. Emily is the type of person that listens, takes the time, and works to resolve any issues that you are experiencing. She has a gift for making a person feel understood, and every question or concern that you have is important to her. Whenever you finish an email or a telephone conversation with Emily, you feel validated, and that is EVERYTHING!"
