YAYWORTHY:
Nominator LaShanda Melendez said,
"She exemplifies the values outlined in the Journey to 2030 strategic plan and centers every action on student success and opportunity. Ms. Tyler works tirelessly with teachers and the community to ensure that students have genuine opportunities to contribute to the lifeblood of the school. Her dedication is instrumental in removing barriers and providing students with the resources they need to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
"She immediately identified a need and mobilized community support to vitalize the new drama club at John Rolfe Middle School. Recognizing that the sponsoring teachers were new to the role, she reached out to community members and secured essential resources, including set pieces, costumes, props, pre-show meals and professionally printed playbills. Furthermore, these partners are now providing their expertise to ensure that we offer a quality drama program where students can develop their talents. This initiative is a perfect example of her building authentic community partnerships that directly benefit student programs.
"Another clear example is her effort to spark student interest in strategic thinking by supporting the Rubik's Cube Club. She proactively secured numerous cubes to distribute to students at both the HCPS Back-to-School Kickoff event and the JRMS Back-to-School Night. This visibility and direct engagement led to 18 students joining the Rubik's Cube Club at JRMS. Her support for student initiatives extends beyond this, as she is now planning a family game night to further engage families in strategic thinking and foster a stronger school-home connection."
Thank you for all you do, Dawn Tyler, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
