Remote Learning Day
Remote Learning Day Resources for Students
In cases of inclement weather or other school or division closure, Henrico County Public Schools may leverage remote learning days. Although remote learning does not provide the same experience as in-person learning, it helps keep students engaged and on pace with their learning. Teachers, individual schools and the school division provide a variety of resources for student learning on remote days. Students with disabilities will receive services and accommodations upon returning to school, prior to teachers grading remote learning assignments.
Understanding that power outages, family work schedules and other challenges that come with inclement weather can be barriers to students completing their work, students will have a two-week window to complete and submit their work. Teachers will also be ready to answer questions and assist students with assignments over those 14 days.

From time to time, elementary school teachers provide printed packets of learning materials for use in the event of a school closure or snow day.
On a remote learning day, students may use the previously shared learning packets. Students may also have the opportunity to access HCPS digital resources, division-created learning activities, or engage in teacher-assigned learning experiences.
Families who are unable to access digital learning activities or resources should contact their students’ classroom teachers for other options.

Specific questions regarding remote independent work should be communicated to a student’s classroom teachers.
-
Secondary students are encouraged to check PowerSchool first to identify any missing assignments; completing these assignments should be a first priority.
Once missing assignments are completed, middle and high school students should check Schoology for additional independent learning assignments developed and uploaded by their teachers no later than 9:30 a.m.
Although there will be no live instruction on an independent, remote learning day, teachers will be available to answer questions through Schoology.
