Student Staff Survey

Staff Survey Student Survey Encuesta para Estudiantes en Español
We want to know what you think about your school and the division, so we are giving one survey to students in grades 3-12 and a different survey to staff to learn about each of your unique perspectives and experiences. We are looking for your honest feedback on things like academics, the school learning environment, your well-being, and the employee work experience.
By taking this survey, you can help us improve in these areas and make important decisions about the future. The survey will take 10 minutes. No one will know your individual answers to the survey questions, and you can choose whether or not to participate.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Every year, Henrico County Public Schools invites families, staff and students in grades 3-12 to share their feedback on what we’re doing well and where we can grow. Your voice is a vital part of our Journey to 2030 roadmap, helping us measure our progress toward our goals.
-
Your feedback helps us track our Journey to 2030 goals and decide where to invest resources and programs to best support our schools. Results from previous surveys led to the some of the following changes:
-
When teachers told us they wanted professional learning opportunities that tied more closely to their daily work and instructional needs, we launched the “Choose Your Own Adventure” professional learning series and offered conference-style sessions to provide more choices.
-
When students indicated they did not always see how what they learned in the classroom connected to real life and future careers, we expanded access to programs like the FIRST LEGO League and virtual reality experiences, as well as built an interdisciplinary unit for 9th grade students that provides information on career paths.
-
When families indicated a desire for schools to provide stronger support in helping students resolve conflicts safely and peacefully, we implemented a new peer mediation program at some high schools.

The survey focuses on the four goals of our Journey to 2030 plan:
-
Academic Achievement: How well our schools provide high-quality, rigorous instruction in core subjects like reading and math, while helping students develop essential life skills—such as critical thinking and collaboration—that connect classroom lessons to real-world situations.
-
Learning Environment: Your thoughts on school safety, building cleanliness and the use of technology.
-
Physical, Social, Emotional and Mental Health: Your sense of belonging and awareness of mental health resources.
-
Recruit, Engage, Retain and Reward Staff: Feedback on professional growth, recognition and workplace support (for employees only).
The survey also includes demographic questions (such as school and grade level) and open-ended sections where you can share specific suggestions for improvement.
