The School Quality Department promotes the Virginia Support Framework and supports the framework's four domains: academics; staffing; organizational learning; and school climates. Using Virginia's continuous improvement process, HCPS school quality staff members help schools with state- and federal-accountability requirements, based on their accreditation statuses.

The department provides schools with coaching and support for the school quality process using the principles of improvement science. Team members facilitate school-based workshops to conduct an annual assessment of school needs, which drives the creation and implementation of the school's support plan.

The team helps school administrators, staff members and HCPS central office leaders develop improvement science knowledge and skills. Team members provide current research-based practices to improve instruction, and work with school and HCPS leaders to promote positive attendance habits and on-time graduation rates.
