Salary and Compensation

Henrico County Public Schools is proud to be the school division of choice for Virginia's most dedicated and innovative educators. To continue to recruit and retain the best and brightest in the profession, HCPS offers competitive salaries and outstanding benefits such as:

  • An historic 8.2% raise for all employees for the 2023-2024 school year;

  • An increase to its hourly minimum wage to $15/hour;

  • A parental leave policy that provides up to 8-weeks of paid, job protected leave for full-time and permanent part-time employees who are becoming parents through birth, adoption or foster care programs;

  • Protection from rising health insurance costs (HCPS continues to absorb health insurance increases rather than passing them on to employees.); and

  • Opportunities to earn bonuses.

HCPS is part of Henrico County’s larger "unified pay structure," which includes all school and local general government employees. To build a better understanding of the pay plan, HCPS has created resources for current and future employees to learn more about placements on the pay scale and funding for salary adjustments.
