Yay of the Day

YAY STEPHANIE CARTER! Stephanie Carter, a Language Instruction Education Program (LIEP) teacher at Quioccasin Middle School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Kelly Potts said,

"Ms. Carter has been and is an exceptional LIEP team leader. This is no small feat. She sees, understands, and advocates not only for the kids on her caseload but in other classes. She communicates regularly with our ELs' content and Exceptional Education teachers to ensure effective strategies for ELs in multiple classes. She readily attends IEP meetings to advocate for our English Learners and communicates with their case managers to optimize accommodations on Access testing. She carries so much on her shoulders, yet she continues to carry leadership responsibilities with innate strength, wisdom, and kindness. A specific example of times she made a positive impact is when she efficiently and keenly leads the LIEP team PLCs with great organization and foresight."

And nominator Chris Jones said,

"Stephanie cheerfully and seamlessly merged her EL class with mine in an effort to help all our students. She's a top-tier teacher, calm and humble, but with quiet energy. And she's a whiz with the Promethean board and lightening fast with AI tools. A specific example of a time she made a positive impact is when she used Google Gemini to create a handout on point of view in just a couple of minutes. It was exactly what students needed right then. It's like when that high-level quarterback makes that lightNing fast, game-changing decision in the pocket. Sometimes in life you have to improvise; she's a planner, but she can think on the fly like a champion."

Thank you for all you do, Stephanie Carter, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
