Greenwood Families,

It is always with great emotion that I write my final Sunday message of the school year. This 5th grade class truly means the world to me, as this was the class that had to learn virtually and through plastic dividers during kindergarten. I will never forget March 13, 2020, when schools were shut down, and the promise I made to our school community—to cherish every moment we have together, to live each day to the fullest, to create opportunities for joy and connection, and to provide an unforgettable elementary school experience for every child. As we prepare to celebrate this incredible group of students and close another amazing school year at Greenwood, my heart is filled with gratitude for our families, staff, students, and community who continue to make Greenwood such a special place to learn, grow, and shine.

One Team! One Dream!

These opportunities are a fun way to celebrate positive behavior, leadership, and school spirit throughout the year.

LAMPS Schedule in 2026-2027
Next year, we will no longer operate on a Day 1 - 5 rotating schedule due to our growing number of classroom sections. Both kindergarten and 1st grade will have six teachers next year, which means we will welcome additional PE, Music, and Art teachers from Fair Oaks each week. As a result, all students will have a consistent specials schedule each day of the week, helping provide more structure and predictability for families and students.

Staffing in 2026-2027
We will share staffing updates for the 2026-2027 school year in early June.

School Supplies for 2026-2027
School supply lists will be shared with report cards on Friday, May 29. They will also be posted on our school website for families to access throughout the summer.

End of Year Awards Ceremonies Reminders
We intentionally spread out our ceremonies this year to allow more time for parking and seating. Families do not need to register to attend any awards ceremony, but all guests will go through our weapon scanners upon entry. If possible, we ask that younger siblings remain at home to help maintain a respectful and distraction-free environment for students receiving recognition. If younger siblings do attend, we kindly ask families to help ensure they remain supervised and respectful throughout the ceremonies. Please note that PK, 1st grade, and 2nd grade ceremonies will take place in classrooms, so we appreciate families being mindful of the number of guests attending due to limited space. Parents should not bring cupcakes or treats for students to eat in the classroom. Parents will be able to sign their child out following the ceremony from either the classroom or the gym. If this is your plan, please notify your child’s teacher in advance so students can be packed and ready to go.

Tuesday, May 26 – SOL Game Day (3rd - 5th Grade)
Get ready for another field day experience! The games have been modified slightly due to the expected rain; however, we are still going to have tons of fun. SOL Game Day is not open to parent volunteers. Students who did not earn this experience will participate in a study skills remediation course with our administrative team focused on building strong homework habits for the 2026-2027 school year. We saw a strong correlation between reading on grade level, passing SOL assessments, consistent school attendance, positive classroom behaviors, and students who regularly completed homework assignments throughout the year.

SOL Game Day Schedule

4th Grade: 10:05 - 10:45 AM

3rd Grade: 12:30 - 1:10 PM

5th Grade: 1:15 - 1:55 PM

Wednesday, May 27 – Gaga Pit Tournament
This has been cancelled due to the expected rain.

Wednesday, May 27 – House Cup Championship
We will host our House Cup Championship from 9:00 - 9:45 AM featuring special pep rally competitions with both students and staff before officially crowning the 2025-2026 House Cup Champion. The winning house will earn a permanent banner and team picture displayed in our hallway forever, continuing a tradition that celebrates school spirit, teamwork, and house pride.

Wednesday, May 27 – 5th Grade Party
We are incredibly excited to continue our 10-year tradition of hosting a special celebration for our 5th grade students from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. This event is designed to celebrate the friendships, memories, and accomplishments of our students as they prepare for their next chapter in middle school.

Wednesday, May 27 – House Celebrations
The winning house will earn a special celebration from 1:00 - 1:50 PM featuring bouncy houses, Game Trucks, Kona Ice, a photo booth, and more! Huge thanks to our amazing PTA for continuing to sponsor experiences that help create lasting memories for our students and staff.

Thursday, May 28 – Computer Collection
