Greenwood Families,
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Fly Eagles Fly! We hope you enjoy the game and time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Below are the updates for the week.
LAMPS Schedule
The Greenwood Heartbeats are BACK!
We are excited to share that our Greenwood Heartbeats (a group of Greenwood staff) will be returning on Friday, February 13 to deliver Valentine’s Sing-O-Grams to our teachers! Our singing group will travel to classrooms throughout the day to surprise staff members with a special song and share who sent the Sing-O-Gram. Students who send a singing telegram will be invited to stand next to their teacher while the group performs, making it an extra-memorable moment. We also encourage our community to spread the love beyond homeroom teachers by recognizing our incredible LAMPS team, instructional assistants, reading and math interventionists, custodial staff, cafeteria team, lunch monitors, and other essential staff members who support our students every day. Please be sure to turn in your $5 by Wednesday if you are sending a Sing-O-Gram to your child’s teacher. This is such a fun and meaningful way to show our staff how much they are appreciated!
Report Cards
Thank you for reviewing your child’s report card over the weekend. These grades should not come as a surprise, as families can monitor grades daily through PowerSchool. If you need assistance accessing PowerSchool, please contact the school at 804-261-2970 or reach out directly to your child’s teacher.
Morning Clubs - Sign Up Here
We are excited for morning clubs to resume this week! As a reminder, morning club doors close promptly at 7:25 AM, and students must have their lanyards, as they will be scanned upon entry. Thank you for helping us keep mornings running smoothly.
Bus Pick-Up – Parent ID Reminder
Thank you to our families for consistently presenting an ID or parent pick-up bus tag when picking up PK and kindergarten students from the bus. We have had several substitute bus drivers recently, and this step is essential for ensuring the safety of your child.
Backpack Organization
As we continue to push toward academic excellence, we ask families to take a few minutes to check, clean, and organize your child’s backpack. A well-organized backpack helps students stay prepared and ready to learn each day.
Breakfast Reminders
Students may eat free breakfast in the cafeteria upon arrival between 7:10–7:40 AM. Once the late bell rings, students receiving breakfast will eat in their classrooms; however, milk is not permitted in classrooms. Students should report directly to the cafeteria upon arrival and should not go to their classroom first. Having a lanyard helps keep this process fast and efficient, and we appreciate your support as our morning supervisors assist with arrival.
Green Take-Home Folder
Thank you for continuing to check your child’s green take-home folder each weekend. This is a critical communication tool and an important part of our home-school partnership as we work toward our academic goals together.
Tuesday, February 10 - Spilling the Tea - Virtual Meeting
We hope you can join the rescheduled Spilling the Tea at 9:00 AM. We will discuss safety updates, attendance reminders, mentorship opportunities, counseling groups, behavior data, musical performances, the school play, the 5th grade celebration, PTA updates, and ways to get involved.

We pride ourselves on being accessible year-round because strong communication between school and home is key to student success.
Friday, February 13 – Daddy Daughter Dance at 7:20 AM
Join us in the Greenwood gym from 7:20–7:45 AM for a special morning of dancing and fun! Dads, grandparents, uncles, brothers, and other family members are welcome to bring their gator for this memorable event.

Tuesday, February 17 – Student Holiday/Teacher PL Day
Thursday, February 19 - Accountable Character Trait Ceremony
We are excited to start the morning honoring our students that earned this prestigious award at 7:20 AM! We will follow our ceremony with our parent parade in the hallway.
