Sunday Greetings!

We had another great week at Greenwood and hope everyone is joining in on our school fundraiser and has taken a moment to join our PTA. As of Sunday, October 12, we’ve raised $24,218—69% of our goal! This week, we need your help to reach the finish line, as this fundraiser supports so many of the experiences that make Greenwood special, including school-wide events, morning clubs, competition teams, classroom supplies, student incentives, field trips, and staff appreciation. Every dollar goes directly toward enriching your child’s experience—not for furniture or school equipment, but for meaningful programs that build connection, learning, and joy. Your support moves us one step closer to becoming a National PTA School of Excellence!

PBIS Metric System
We’re proud to see our PBIS metrics working hand-in-hand with our House System! At Greenwood, we hold all Gators accountable for reaching their academic and behavior goals — and it shows. That’s why Greenwood continues to be recognized as one of the top schools nationally. Our students lead with pride, purpose, and positivity every day!

PTA Spirit Cart
A huge thank-you to our amazing PTA for continuing to offer House spirit wear items on our spirit cart each Friday! This is a great way for students to show their House pride and celebrate their Greenwood spirit.

School Song – Dreams - CLICK HERE
We hope you enjoy listening to our new school song, Dreams! It was powerful hearing our 5th graders perform it during the Class of 2026 Convocation — a moment we’ll never forget.

Snacks in Classrooms
Please remember that no peanut items should be eaten in classrooms during snack time. Additionally, students should not have juice for snacks. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and healthy!

Breakfast Reminder
All students are able to enjoy free breakfast each morning! To help our line move quickly, please make sure your child has their lanyard ready when they arrive. Students who participate in morning clubs are encouraged to arrive by 7:10 AM to eat breakfast before their club begins. After 7:40 AM, breakfast is still available, but students bring it to their classrooms. Please note that milk is not allowed in classrooms due to spills, odor, and potential pest issues.

Friday Communication
Thank you for hitting the “Appreciate” button or leaving encouraging comments on our teachers’ Friday messages. This small gesture goes a long way in showing our staff that their time and dedication are valued.

Homework Reminders
Each grade level assigns weekly homework to help reinforce learning beyond the classroom. Homework builds responsibility, strengthens study habits, helps students master academic skills, and encourages family involvement in learning. If homework ever feels overwhelming or is taking too long, please reach out to your child’s teacher directly. We are a family-first school and want to ensure that homework remains meaningful and manageable. With state standards rising significantly, we need your partnership more than ever to continue being a high-achieving academic school.

Lunch Reminders
Parents and families are always welcome to join their child for lunch. You may sit together at the parent table outside the cafeteria or enjoy your meal in the Gator Gardens if it’s a nice day. Please note that parents are not permitted to walk to classrooms after lunch or visit the Lost and Found during the school day.

Lost and Found
We’ve noticed an increase in the number of clothing items and water bottles left behind. Parents may visit the Lost and Found between 2:30 – 3:30 PM under the supervision of our School Security Officer. For safety reasons, we cannot allow parents to search the playground or hallways during school hours.

House Achievement
Each Friday, 1st–5th graders who meet their academic and behavior goals enjoy a House Achievement Lunch! Students celebrate by sitting anywhere within their grade level, enjoying treats, music, dancing, chants, and lots of smiles. Students who earn two or more X’s or a major discipline referral participate in a restorative circle with our counselor and administrator to reflect and create a plan for improvement.

Progressive steps if a student continues to miss House Achievement:
1️⃣ Restorative parent form and meeting with teacher
2️⃣ Restorative parent form, meeting with administrator, recess thought partner, and lunch detention
3️⃣ Restorative parent project, conference with administrator, counselor, and teacher, and RESET (in-school suspension)
4️⃣ Response to Intervention meeting (school psychologist, counselor, social worker, administrator, and support teacher) and community service project.
