Greenwood Families,
We have exciting news to share! Last night at the Henrico County Council PTA Ceremony, Greenwood was honored with the Impactful PTA of the Year award. This is a tremendous accomplishment, especially considering Henrico County Public Schools includes 75 schools. This recognition highlights the extraordinary partnership between our school and families, and it celebrates the hard work, heart, and dedication that fuel our community every single day.
Our PTA was recognized for hosting a wide range of events including Trunk or Treat and Fall Carnival, Friendsgiving, the Grandparents Luncheon, Gator Gala, the Glen Allen Parade, and free Family Photos. They were also honored for financially supporting our morning clubs, sports teams, and academic competition teams, which impact over 300 students each quarter. In addition, the PTA provides daily support with morning arrival, enabling staff to lead these enriching extracurricular opportunities. Their commitment extends to monthly music programs, as well as consistent support during Teacher Appreciation Week, Unity Day celebrations, Teacher Work Week, and many other special events throughout the year. These efforts help create a vibrant, inclusive, and joyful school culture that makes Greenwood such a special place.
It was also noted that our PTA built a dedicated website and launched a fundraiser that allowed them to retain 100% of donations—avoiding the typical 30–50% cut taken by outside companies. Each year, they create a beautifully designed yearbook filled with highlights and meaningful memories. Their efforts go beyond the school walls, as demonstrated by our community’s strong support for service projects like Blankets of Love, the Tacky Light Tour, Light of Hope, Christmas Mother, the Cereal Box Drive, and many more—reflecting the deep compassion and shared values that define Greenwood.
Our PTA leads with love, seeing no barriers—only solutions. The Greenwood PTA and our community continue to grow stronger because we lean into each other with trust and shared purpose. Our PTA’s vision is fully aligned with our school’s mission, creating a powerful foundation for student success, family engagement, and staff support. This alignment ensures our students and staff feel seen, valued, and supported—not just academically, but emotionally and socially. It empowers our families to be active partners in education, and it allows staff to go beyond the classroom to build lifelong connections. Boom!
As principal, I am deeply honored and incredibly grateful to serve in this amazing community. I do not take one day for granted. Being a part of the Greenwood family is a true privilege, and I’m thankful every day for the love, generosity, and collaboration that define our school. Congratulations to our PTA!
