Miss Fines and our students bring sunshine to our school every day! Check out this sunny mural that students brought to life in art class over the last month, which will add some extra joy to our Telehealth Clinic. Students led a ribbon cutting this week to celebrate!

PK-2nd grade students had the opportunity to attend a woodwinds quintet performance last week. We are so proud of how attentive and engaged students were throughout the performance. And, of course, we loved singing when they recognized "We Don't Talk About Bruno"!

We loved celebrating youraccomplishments at the awards assembly last week! Students were recognized for their academic achievements, attendance, and ROAR behaviors. We also recognized students for their perseverance & kindness in the library. Check out these proud smiles!

Each quarter, we celebrate ROAR -- responsibility, organization, achievement, and respect -- with "Fun Friday" during students' LAMPS. This month, the library hosted a "glam party" where we made sunglasses and bracelets. Check out these GLAM Lions, showing off their new gear!

Check out students in our photography club, sponsored by Miss Fines. Students meet each week to develop their artist's eye & practice different camera skills. Students will also help with pictures at events, like Family Game & Photo Night on 11/21 at 5:30. Hope to see you there!

Kindergarten students enjoyed visiting the Fairfield Public Library, where they listened to stories & sang together! Did you know they have FREE events every week? Art, stories, and even a magic show in January! Check out their upcoming events here: http://bit.ly/3YzWnEh

October's Spirit Week included a day to share hobbies, passions, and interests! Glen Lea showed up! We had football jerseys, unicorns, superhero t-shirts, friendship bracelets, chef aprons, favorite TV shows, and so much more. Every Lion is YOU-nique, and we love this so much!

We are so grateful for our partnership with bbgb, a locally owned children's bookstore. Thanks to their work, students had the chance to speak with Amber McBride, author of the new Onyx & Beyond. We talked space, coping with tough feelings, and what it's like to write a book!

First graders enjoyed their first field trip this year -- the pumpkin patch! Students observed the life cycle in action, from seeds to decaying pumpkins, while also getting to take a hayride and select a pumpkin to take home. Thank you to our community & HEF for your support!

Mrs. Agelasto's preschool students have been busy practicing their persistence and cooperative skills while they build roads, houses, towers, and more. They explored elevation, size, and shape across different materials together too!

Thanks for showing your school spirit last week with hats, wacky wear, twins, and more. Keep an eye out for information about October's spirit week, coming up soon! We'll be celebrating Red Ribbon Week, Trunk or Treat, and the book fair, all at the same time.

Kindergarten students had a blast at the Fairfield Public Library last week! We listened to stories, sang together, and finished by exploring different toys. We even learned a few words in sign language! The rest of our kindergarten students will be visiting soon. We can't wait!

Thank you to all of our families who came out to our Sunshine Breakfast! We were thrilled to spend time with you and your students, while practicing different skills we can use to self-regulate and build attention. It truly made our whole week to come together as a community!

Our 4th grade Lego League Challenge team began meeting last week. This team has many missions ahead of it -- building Lego creations, programming robotics, and innovating solutions to modern problems. But they are ready to rock it! We can't wait to see what they create!

Calling all pre-K, kindergarten, & 1st grade families! We would love to see you on Tuesday 9/24 at the Sunshine breakfast to celebrate the start of the schoo year! From 7:50 - 8:40, light breakfast will be served as we learn about social-emotional nad self-calming strategies.

Fall is arriving -- which means the start of spooky season, one of our favorites! 2nd grade students have been crafting hungry ghosts during their art time with Miss Fines, who are gobbling up candy and treats. We love seeing their focus as they bring their ideas to life!

With thanks to BBGB, we are thrilled to be hosting author Amber McBride on 10/4 to share with our students about her new book and what it's like to be an author! Ms. V started Onyx & Beyond last week and LOVES it. Order a signed copy at https://tinyurl.com/GLESmcbride

Last week, students shopped the ROAR cart for the first time this year! Students earn points for meeting ROAR expectations, which they can then spend on treats, toys, and experiences at our ROAR cart. Students will shop again in a few weeks, so encourage them to ROAR every day!

Mrs. Agelasto's amazing all stars have been making new friends, practicing collaboration skills, learning about letters, building shapes, and so much more!! Every day in preschool is a busy day as they strengthen their natural curiosity and love for learning!

Exciting news! Ms. Lewis is sponsoring a STEP team here at Glen Lea! 3rd to 5th grade students can pick up a permission slip in room C7. Tryouts are 9/24-9/26 from 3:20-4:320pm. Parents must provide transportation for both tryouts & practice. Can't wait to see your talent shine!
