ACADEMICS | Eagles, We are delighted to share some excellent news regarding the progress of our students in intervention classes! We are seeing positive movement and significant effort from our students in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math intervention. In ELA Intervention: We are proud to report that students are showing marked improvement in their reading skills, with many moving from a foundational status to an intermediate status. This success is a direct result of their hard work and the consistent use of Lexia, our evidence-based intervention program. In Math Intervention: Our students are also making incremental gains as they tackle challenging concepts and work towards mastery. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and determination our students are exhibiting in these crucial intervention classes as they seek to increase their academic gains. Please continue to encourage their efforts at home! Important Testing Information: Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) All Elko Middle School students will be taking the Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) next week on November 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2025. ATTENDANCE UPDATES | ID Badges Please ensure that your students are wearing their ID badges every day. Students now need to scan their ID badges when they arrive to school late and when they have an early dismissal. Transportation/Bus Information If your student’s bus is running late in the morning, please call the Transportation Office at 804-261-9401. You can also download the Parent Portal Bus App to track the bus: https://www.henricoschools.us/page/parent-portal-bus-app Contacts/Pick-up Lists: Please make sure your student’s pick-up list is up to date by updating the Contacts listed in PowerSchool. You can do this by logging in to your Parent Portal account. Anyone coming to pick up a student for early dismissal MUST be listed in PowerSchool. If someone is not listed in PowerSchool, we will not be able to call the student down. EARLY DISMISSAL: The cut off time for early dismissals is 2:30 pm.
