SOL PREPARATION

Eagles,

Thanks for a great first week of administration of the SOL assessments. We tested all of our math subjects with minimal delays or issues. This will be week two of the assessments. We ask you to ensure your student brings a charged laptop with a charger, gets some adequate rest, eats a good breakfast, and is at school on time. Please see the schedule below for this week's assessments.

DRESS CODE

Parents and Guardians,

Please ensure you student adhere to the dress code outline by Henrico County Public Schools. Students deemed out of dress must have another change of clothing or will call a parent/guardian for another change of clothing. Let's make the remainder of the year enjoyable for all at Elko! A copy of the dress code policy is attached.

EARLY DISMISSALS

Our early dismissal cut off time is

2:30 pm. Students will not be called out of class after this time but may be notified that they are a car rider. Car riders are dismissed at 3:15 following the afternoon announcements.

Counseling

SCHOOL COUNSELING DEPARTMENT

Summer Academy
Students must pass all core classes to be promoted to the next grade. If you are concerned about your student needing to take classes over the summer, please contact your grade level counselor to discuss options. Summer Academy will cost $180 per class with students able to take up to 2 classes.

ACE@HS Expo Event

April 25th and 26th the ACE center at Highland Springs will be opening up their doors for our community to come see what the students are working on. Please see the flier for more information.

Required 7th Grade Immunizations

Current State law requires every child to submit proof of a booster dose of Tdap and a dose of MenACWY vaccine prior to the start of 7th grade. Please make sure to send Elko a copy of your student’s immunization record prior to the start of 7th grade. Students cannot attend school without their vaccines.

Course Request Changes

No course request changes for the 24/25 school year can be requested after 5/24/24.

Summer Career Camps: Summer Career Camps are being offered again this year by Henrico County Public Schools From June 3rd to July 11th. These classes allow students to explore a career and learn skills in that career. The cost is $50. Registration opens March 11th and middle school slots fill up fast! TECHNOLOGY

LAPTOP COLLECTION

The end of the 2023-2024 school year is approaching quickly. We will collect student laptops starting May 23, 2024, and end collection on May 29, 2024. Students must return laptops and chargers to school during this period. If you have any questions about laptop collection, please email Ms. Tyson at altyson@henrico.k12.va.us
