Our students and grandparents filled the cafeteria Friday morning! It was a special morning, and we are grateful to Villiage Green RVA for their delicious donation!

The end of the school year is always bittersweet, but it is especially bittersweet for us here at Carver since Mrs. Brennan, Mrs. Fish, Mrs. Atkinson, and Mrs. Harlow will not be returning to Carver next year!
After 16 years at Carver, Mrs. Brennan plans to spend her retirement cruising to Alaska and enjoying time with her four, out-of-town grandchildren. In her words, "more travel, grandkids, repeat … "
Mrs. Fish has been here for 29 years and will continue to make her mark as a PREP participant for Henrico. She is looking forward to continued service on the Walk4JaneO committee as well as the Chippenham Clothes Closet- two organizations created in memory of Jane O’Toole. She will also be spending time with family, focusing on her health, and visiting her son at VA Tech to cheer him on as a Marching Virginian (Bring on the Sandman)!
Mrs. Atkinson plans to celebrate the end of her 22 years at Carver by spending as much time as possible with her grandbabies and traveling. In fact, trips to Disney and Costa Rica are already on the books!
Mrs. Harlow has been with us 3 years and is taking her talent to Twin Hickory Elementary as their new reading specialist. Although we will miss her, we are excited for her and know she will continue to positively impact students.
Thank you ladies for your service to our Cougars!

We are so grateful for our dedicated teachers here at Carver!

Last week, we had our first ever Kickball Tournament here at Carver! Our K-2 Class Winner was Mrs. Ahearn's 1st grade class, and our 3-5 Class Winner was Mrs. Spevak's 3rd grade class. Congratulations to Mrs. Ahearn's class for beating the teacher team, and even though they didn't win, Mrs. Spevak's class did a great job up against the teachers!

It's time for Garden Club again! Check out the pollinator water fountains AND those smiles! Thank you to Greater Richmond Fit4Kids for their support and collaboration!

We hope you'll consider volunteering for this fun event!

In-Person Kindergarten Registration begins this Wednesday, April 17!

Each year, Henrico County recognizes a member of Exceptional Education and Support Services whose contribution has been exemplary in service of children and their families with the Christie Award. We are excited to share Carver's nominee is Holly Baird!
Here is what one colleague shared when nominating Holly for this award.
"Holly is so dedicated to her students and ensuring they are receiving the best education they can. Every day, she comes in with enthusiasm and a great deal of care for each of her students. She works day in and day out so her students get the services they need for success. Whether it is pulling small groups or working side by side in the classroom, she is tireless in her commitment to her students. She is an amazing Exceptional Education teacher, and I am so thankful that I have gotten the pleasure of working with her this year."

How do you engage 5th graders with their counseling lessons? Get them coding with Indi, of course! 🚙 💙💛

Check out our transformed Valentine's Day cafeteria! Students created decorations as part of a kindness project with our school counselors, Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Corning. The students loved how it all came together and felt a little extra love!

We have a few Cougars that deserve some major recognition!
Nedra Djemai was nominated and chosen for Henrico County's Yay of the Day! Nedra “...goes above and beyond to make sure all her students are happy in the cafeteria. She works so hard to ensure they get the best food possible." We are so glad to have Nedra as part of the Cougar family!
Aiden G. was nominated by the 5th grade teachers to represent Carver as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Light of Hope recipient. Aiden was nominated for being "...kind, helpful, and trustworthy. He consistently shows respect to his teachers and classmates..." He attended the county's ceremony this past Monday. Way to go, Aiden!
Jerimai M. represented Carver at the county Spelling Bee! Jerimai is a 5th grade student who competed against almost 60 other students from across the county. He did a great job and had to spell some hard words. Congratulations, Jerimai! Way to represent Carver!
