Application Criteria for Social Sciences

Applicant Selection Criteria

New cohorts consist of up to 75 students who have demonstrated the greatest potential for success based on the following criteria:

  • Algebra I in middle school with a minimum grade of 2.75 for MP 1 and final grade

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA from English, social studies, science, math, and language (if taken) in both 7th and 8th grade (NOTE: students in ACA must maintain a 3.0 GPA)

  • Results of math and reading tests taken at school

  • Evaluation of mechanics and substance of writing test done at school

  • Evaluation of written or video response to ACA prompt.

  • Strength of 2 recommendations; 3rd recommendation optional

  • Attendance to school (please note unusual circumstances)

  • Recommendation of the selection committee

After ACA, You’re Going Places

Almost all ACA alumni have gone on to further their education at a four-year College or University and beyond.
