Application Criteria for Social Sciences
Applicant Selection Criteria
New cohorts consist of up to 75 students who have demonstrated the greatest potential for success based on the following criteria:
Algebra I in middle school with a minimum grade of 2.75 for MP 1 and final grade
Minimum 2.75 GPA from English, social studies, science, math, and language (if taken) in both 7th and 8th grade (NOTE: students in ACA must maintain a 3.0 GPA)
Results of math and reading tests taken at school
Evaluation of mechanics and substance of writing test done at school
Evaluation of written or video response to ACA prompt.
Strength of 2 recommendations; 3rd recommendation optional
Attendance to school (please note unusual circumstances)
Recommendation of the selection committee

Almost all ACA alumni have gone on to further their education at a four-year College or University and beyond.
