Enrollment Process

School Locator Tool

Enter your address in our School Locator tool to find the school for which your home is zoned.

STEP 1: Begin Enrollment

Online Enrollment (Preferred Method)

While the PowerSchool Enrollment process is the best place to complete most enrollment requirements, there are also two paper forms you must provide to your school if they apply to your child:

In-Person Enrollment

If you don't wish to submit documents online, download and complete the forms below and make an appointment at the school your child is zoned to attend:

STEP 2: Gather Required Documents

Gather the following additional documents to complete the registration process at your school:

  • Birth Certificate: An original, official state-issued birth certificate for your child must be presented in person to the school registrar.

  • Proof of Residency & Photo ID: Parents/legal guardians must provide proof of residency plus a picture ID to verify identity. Residency documents must show the person’s name and address of where he/she is residing. These documents will also be required for a change of address.

  • Immunizations and Physicals:

    • An up-to-date record of your child’s immunizations.

    • A comprehensive physical exam form signed by a qualified U.S. licensed health-care provider and dated no earlier than 12 months before the date your child will begin school.

    • If you need a physical, immunization, or a primary care practice, visit fThis needs to b fixtecwww.hcps.info/VDH for information.

  • Exceptional Education Services:

    • If your child currently receives special education services, follow up with the school registrar to submit documentation (IEP cover page, services page, and least-restrictive-environment statement) with your enrollment. A member of the HCPS exceptional education team will then contact you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ Accordions)

Does the submission of these forms mean my child is all set to start school in the fall?

Submitting enrollment forms online or in person is the first step. Registration is finalized once the school registrar reviews and verifies all required documentation (including the original birth certificate, proof of residency, health forms, and immunization records). The school will notify you if any additional information is needed.

How can I ensure that my student is enrolled as quickly as possible?

Complete all required fields in the PowerSchool Enrollment portal, upload clear copies of all requested documents, and schedule an appointment with your zoned school's registrar to present the original birth certificate and photo ID as early as possible (preferably before July 1).

How do I access PowerSchool Enrollment?

You can access the portal by visiting the HCPS enrollment website and clicking the PowerSchool Enrollment link. You will need to create a new user account (or log into an existing account if you have previously enrolled another student in Henrico County Public Schools).

Can I "pause" the PowerSchool Enrollment process and return to it later?

Yes. Your progress is saved automatically under your PowerSchool Enrollment account login. You can log out at any point and sign back in later from any computer or mobile device to complete and submit your application.

What if I don’t have access to PowerSchool Enrollment?

If you do not have internet access or a digital device, you may download and print the paper enrollment forms, or visit your child's zoned school to request a paper registration packet and complete enrollment in person.
